| Vertebrates are a type of animal. Vertebrates have a backbone or
a spinal column. Some types of vertebrates are:
- Mammals
- Birds
- Fish
- Reptiles
- Amphibians (like frogs)
- Marsupials (like kangaroos)
- Rodents (like mice)
- Primates (like apes)
- Cetaceans (like whales)
There are fewer vertebrates than there are invertebrates, but
vertebrates are usually larger and can move more easily.
Vertebrates can be warm-blooded or cold-blooded.
Most vertebrates have large brains. This helps them have sharper
senses so that they can adapt and survive more easily.
