Plants
and animals have to live in certain habitats or environments.
An alligator lives in a swamp,
because he needs to be near water.
A bald eagle lives in the
mountains, because he likes the tall trees on the mountaintops.
There are some plants that
can only be found in a certain habitat. If something happens to the
habitat, the plants and animals can die.
Last year there was a big
fire in the Okefenokee Swamp. It burned for two months. A lot of
plants and animals were killed, and others died because they
couldn't find food to eat after the fire. The fire damaged the
habitat.
Help take care of our
habitats by planting trees and picking up trash. Put out bird
feeders to help the birds find food.
