I'm part German
from my father's side of the family. My father's fraternal Grandmother's,
grandparents came from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. They owned a very
big plantation before the Civil War and when the war ended ,they lost
everything.
They came through the port at Port Smith ,Virginia. Then they moved to North
Carolina and stayed there. If it hadn't been for the Civil War, I could be
living the really good life. Then again if I was living the good life, then I
never would have gotten the friends I have now. Then a relative named
Stephen and two or three of his relatives surrendered with Robert E. Lee at Apparatuses
Court house in Virginia and walked all the way back to Georgia.
Unfortunately, I don't know were anybody came from or anything, because no
one kept a record of my father's side of history. Although my Uncle Charley
has been trying for years to figure out where everyone came from, when
they came over, where they came over, and many other things. There
would be more information if my family had keep records, but like I told you
no one did, so this is my father's family.
