Go back 5,000 years ago and you will probably find 8 famous people in China . This country is one of the oldest countries in the world. China is the fourth largest country in the world besides Russia, Canada, and the United States of America. China has 22 provinces and 5 independent regions. The president of China is Hu Jintao. The money in this country is called Yuan Renminbi. China usually trades their materials with USA, Japan, Germany, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The dynasties include:

Xia, Shang, Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Xin, Eastern Han, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and the Republic Of China.

 

 

LOCATION

China is located in the Eastern part of Asia. The capital of this country is Beijing. It is in between North Korea and Vietnam. It borders the East China Sea, Yellow Sea, Korea Sea, and the South China Sea. In the northern part of China is a colder climate than in the South. The southern part of China has a tropical climate. China is located in the northern and the eastern hemisphere.

The highest point in China would have to be Mount Everest which is 8,850 meters high. Before this mountain was named, it was known as Peak 15. Mount Everest was named after Sir George Everest in 1865.  Its ridges separate Nepal and Tibet. The lowest point would be Turpan Pendi which is -154 meters.  This point is located in Northwest China.

 

 

POPULATION

The population in China is very large. There are about 1,313,973,713 people living in this country.  Twenty-one percent of this country is made up of kids that are 0-14 years old. Most of the population is made up of people that are fifteen to sixty-four years old and almost 8 percent is created by seniors [65 years and older].

 

LANGUAGE & RELIGION

China's official language is Mandarin, which is spoken in Beijing. The Chinese called this language "Putonghua." Almost seventy percent of the people living speak Mandarin. Wherever you are located in China, one language you will probably hear is Cantonese.
Most of the people in China are either Daoist (also known as Taoist) or Buddhist. 3 to 4 percent are Christian and only 1 percent is a Muslim.

"The Great Wall of China" is one of the greatest wonders world wide. This wall is in deserts, grasslands, mountains, and plateaus and is probably about 4,163 miles long. There has been history about this place for over 2,000 years. When the Chinese slaves were working on the Great Wall of China, some of the slaves died while they were working on it. So the other slaves just buried them inside the wall while they were finishing.
