Animal Kingdoms

Our purpose for creating a web site about the five kingdoms is because we wanted to learn more about them and we wanted others to learn more about them too.

Living things are classified in six groups. These groups are called kingdoms. The six kingdoms are:

Kingdoms Important Characteristics Examples
Animalia Have many cells, eat living or once-living things Dogs, cats, monkeys, insects
Plantae Have many cells, create their own food Flowers, trees, grasses
Fungi Most have many cells, absorb food from living or dead things Mushrooms, molds
Protists Most have one cell, make their own food or feed on living or dead things Amoebas, algae
Eubacteria One cell
Archaebacteria One cell

You can see lots of cool pictures of the animal kingdoms at this site:  http://biodidac.bio.uottawa.ca/info/browse.htm
