Heart Attack

A Heart Attack is the blockage of blood flowing through the coronary arteries. Really the only prevention is living a healthy lifestyle. There are treatments but they may not work, some treatments are rest, drug treatment, and possibly surgery. Heart Attacks can cause permanent damage to the heart muscle. Some of the symptoms are chest pain, pain in left arm, sweating, and difficulty breathing.

Heart Failure

Heart failure is when your heart gets clogged and can’t pump blood all the way through your body. High blood pressure can lead to heart failure. Heart failure means your heart cannot pump the blood the way it is supposed to. The heart cannot fill up with enough blood and pump with its full force at the same time. This can be prevented by living a good and healthy lifestyle.

Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia is a disorder in which your heart is not pumping enough blood to keep your body moving because your heart is not beating in the right rhythm.

Arrhythmia is very common in America 2.2 million people suffer because of Arrhythmia. You can prevent arrhythmia by eating healthy and getting lots of exercise. Arrhythmia can lead to heart attacks and stroke.

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is called a silent killer because it no symptoms. High blood pressure can increase the risk of coronary heart disease. People who do not know they have high blood pressure, until they have a problem in the heart, brain, and kidneys. There are some things that can happen when high blood pressure is not treated it can do things to your body like:

The heart can get larger and lead to heart failure.

  • Blood Vessels in the kidney can narrow and can lead to kidney failure.
  • Blood Vessels in the eye can burst and can lead to blindness.
  • Arties in the body can harden especially the ones in the heart, brain, kidneys and legs and it can lead to a heart attack, stroke, and kidney failure.

High blood pressure can occur in children and adults. You can prevent high blood pressure by:

    • Decrease salt and sodium
    • Try quitting smoking
    • Eat fruits and vegetables
    • Eat dairy foods
    • Try decreasing alcohol
  • Watch your weight

Obesity

Obesity can lead to heart problems because when you are overweight your heart has to put extra force to keep your blood pumping. If you get to obese your heart cannot pump blood to your body and your heart will eventually stop pumping. Obesity can be prevented by eating healthy and getting lots of exercise

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)  

PAD is a disease that can mostly happen in the arteries in the pelvis and legs. PAD is circulatory problem when arteries can get narrowed and reduce blood flow. It is a disease similar to coronary artery disease (CAD) and carotid artery disease (CAD). Some symptoms are:

  • Muscle Problems
  • Weakness
  • Feeling of coldness in the legs or feet
  • Changes in color of the feet
  • Feet turn pale when they are far above the ground and turn red
  • Hair loss
  • Thickening of the toenails
  • Painful ulcers
