Holocaust- the abuse and murder of almost six million Jews by the Nazis

 

Adolf Hitler- born in 1889-1945, murderer of Jews

 

Liberation- the attempt to achieve equal rights or status

 

Frontier- a part of a country that borders another country

 

Peninsula- a large mass of land merging into a body of water

 

Allies- countries that fought with America

 

Axis- countries that fought against America

 

Nagasaki- one of the two Japanese countries that got bombed

 

Hiroshima- one of the two Japanese countries that got bombed

 

Pearl Harbor- A base in Hawaii that got bombed on December 7, 1941

 


Benito Mussolini- leader of Italy in World War 2

 

Regime- political conditions

 

Island Hopping- in the Pacific Theater of WW2 it was known as “Leap Frog”. It was an important military strategy.

 

Appeasement- policy’s imposed the conditions of aggressor in lieu armed resistance

 

Totalitarian- exercising control over freedom

Fuhrer- a leader (also known as Adolf Hitler)

Forced labor-mandatory work as punishment for crime

 

Killing Centers-were Jews were killed

 

Gas Chambers- were Jews were gassed with carbon monoxide

 

Final Solution-Nazis plan to abolish Jews
