Pirate Treasure
There are many myths about pirate treasure and how piracy
came to be. Pirate treasure myths have been going on for more than three
thousand years and will continue until the end of time.
Doubloons
were the most valuable coin to a pirate. If they got a doubloon it was said
that they could take seven weeks off from pirating.
Pirates
treasure most commonly found were: doubloons, pesos, gold, silver, amethyst, ruby, emerald, sapphire, garbet, and
maps. Maps were considered valuable because they thought it meant guaranteed
treasure.
Many pirates considered trading ships treasure too. If they
saw a trading ship they would raid it and take all of their belongings and
money. This is how pirates got their bad reputation and their wealth. The upper classes,
which consitsted of all the pirates worthy enough to have these
precious jewels, were considered to be to most beloved in the pirate
era.

Pesos- silver coins minted by
the Spanish
Gold- valuable because it
could be made in to jewelry
Ruby- a red gem that was very
valuable
Emerald- a green gem that was worth a lot of money
Sapphire- a blue gem that was commonly used for jewelry
Garnet- a multi colored gem
that was considered the most worthy
