Gun Safety
Always use these rules
when handling a gun!
- ALWAYS make sure your finger is away from the trigger
until ready to shoot. Rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the
side of the gun. Do not touch the trigger until ready to use the gun.
- NEVER point the gun at anyone. If the gun is pointed in
a safe direction and goes off it would not shoot anyone. Make sure to
control where the muzzle is pointed at all times.
- NEVER keep
the gun loaded until ready to use. As soon as you pick up a gun make sure
it’s on safety and if not put it on safety! Go get help from an adult if
you do not know how to open the magazine or inspect the chamber(s).
Always
follow these rules when using or storing a gun!
- Cleaning- You need to clean your gun regularly so your gun
will operate correctly and safely. If you take proper care of your gun it
will maintain its value.
- You should always wear ear and eye protection when using a gun-
Guns are very loud and the noise could make you deaf so wear earplugs.
Guns can also let out hot gas and that gas could damage your eyesight.
That’s why you should wear shooting glasses and hearing protectors while
using guns.
- ONLY use the correct ammunition for your gun-Almost all
guns have the ammunition type stamped on the side of the barrel. Bullets
can be recognized from the information stamped on the outside of the gun’s
box. You should not shoot the gun unless you have the proper bullets.
- Make sure your gun is safe to operate- If you have any
questions concerning your guns ability to function you should see a
gunsmith.
