There are three parts of the rut. The prerut, the midrut,
and the postrut are all parts. During the summer, Bucks are in groups
of 5 or more deer. Once the prerut starts they begin to break apart. They
begin to make rubs on trees. Doing this manes their territory.
The next part is called the mid-rut. During the
mid-rut, bucks wonder around looking for does to breed with. Also duing
the mid-rut, scrapes and rubs can be twice as big.
The last stage of the rut is the post-rut. The bucks calm
down and stop their wandering. Also, they worry about feeding more than
does. They stop making rubs and scrapes and go back to their regular
activities.
