Do you know what the sun actually is?

The sun is a star. The sun is made of gas. It is made up of three-fourths hydrogen. I never thought the sun had hydrogen in it. I thought that fact was interesting!

Why is the sun important? The sun is important, because it helps us stay alive. You may be thinking it doesn’t, but it does. The sun also helps our food grow, and it affects all of our weather.

Here are some more interesting facts. The sun is just about 4,600,000 years old. Do you believe the sun is that old? The volume of the sun is about 1,300,000 times the earth. Now that is a lot bigger than earth! A million earths will fit inside the sun!  The sun releases its energy by nuclear reactions.
