Jazz grew from African Americans musical heritage. This heritage was made up of music from West Africa and spirituals sung by slaves in the United States. Jazz were so popular among both black and white Americans that some have called the 1920s "The Jazz Age."

Movies were another new form of entertainment people enjoyed in the 1920s.The movie business base in Hollywood, California, started with silent films. By 1927, the movies had sound.

Radio was popular in the 1920s. Listening to sports on the radio became popular. Football, basketball, and baseball drew huge crowds all across the country. Many people wanted to play sports, too. Tennis and golf became popular hobbies during the 1920s. Many cities built baseball diamonds and swimming pools.
