Rainforest

Welcome to our website! We hope you enjoy it! The purpose of our website is to teach about the Tropical Rain Forest.

Half of the world's rainforest are in Central America. Do you know why they are called tropical rainforest? Because of the lines north and south of the equator. They are called tropic of cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. There are many strange plants and animals in the rainforest. The Rafflesia, a flower that grows on the forest floor, produces the biggest flowers in the world. It also has thick, warty petals and a spiky center. The flowers smell like rotting meat. The giant red orangutans love to eat the fruit from this flower. Wild cats are also excellent tree climbers. They love to chase many animals in the  under story. The bush master is one of the  most feared snakes in South America. Some large areas in the rain forest can only support about a few hundred people, so not many tribes live in the rainforest.
The tiny rainforest frog has a strong poison under their skin so other animals don't eat them. Rainforest also produce a lot of medicines that we use today. There are at least 1500 kinds of fruit and vegetables growing in all the world's rainforest. In the rainforest there is an Amazonian tree. It produces sap that is almost like diesel if you put this sap in your truck it works just like gas. Each rainforest has  giant eagles, and  lizards are found everywhere in the rainforest. They eat plants, insects, and other small animals.
