The Atlantic Ocean Ocean Floor Overview |
|
The Atlantic ocean floor is about 10,932 feet deep. Many ocean animals can't live at that depth and pressure. There are some animals that live at that pressure. Many species of animals that live at that depth are unknown to people today. The giant squid is an animal that lives at the bottom of the ocean. People hardly know anything about it. The pressure is so intense that if a human swam down there he/she would instantly be crushed into something no bigger than a soda can. Scientists are still trying to unravel the mysteries of the ocean floor. The ocean floor has resources to. It has oil, natural gas, sand and gravel aggregates, and many other resources. America gets some of its oil from the Atlantic ocean. They use big oil rigs to drill down to the ocean floor and suck up oil. |
