As we venture into the present times, you will see many old fashions coming back and new fashions evolving. At the beginning of the new millennium, teen fashion became less ragged than in the earlier decades. The “preppy” look became popular again and young girls began dressing like their mothers and grandmothers had.  Big flowery printed sweaters became popular again, as well as short plaid skirts. As the years changed into 2001 and 2002, styles from the sixties and seventies came back into style. Platform shoes and chain necklaces were worn by younger kids to make them look cool. A new fad however for the early parts of the 2000s, was jogging pants, mostly worn by girls. These were found in all different colors and all different fashions, and they are still popular in the present year of 2005.
2003 and 2004 were both years of new fads and fashions. Poncho sweaters and graphic t shirts were found in almost every store. Boys and young men began to let their hair grow out longer and shaggier. Converse sneakers were shoes found on nearly every boy’s feet, and ballet flats on girls’. The infamous "potato shoe" was created and made in nearly every possible style. These comfortable slide-on shoes were worn by boys and girls, men and women of any age. These shoes also continued to be worn in 2005 and will probably be worn for many years to come.
As we come into 2005 and it changes into 2006, more fashions come from previous decades. Tall boots are extremely popular as are blazers and trench coats. Button down shirts are popular, and so are track jackets. Pants are made in many different styles: corduroy, acid-washed, and destroyed, holey jeans. These fashions will continue to evolve and be popular now and for years to come. The terrific 2000s will live on as a decade of new and old fads
