styles in the 1930’s skirts were popular for women. The women’s waistlines were restored to a more natural standard. Skirts often hugged the waist and hips but flared out into pleats that came a few inches above the ankle or mid calf. The upper skirts were usually v-shaped yokes. Furs of all kinds were worn during this era. For example, they wore coats made out of mink, fox, lamb, and sable. Also, the women couldn’t forget their accessories. They wore hats, hand bags, shawls, and thick open toed hills. They usually wore evening gowns for the dinner party or to supper.

The Gangsters were the first people the Americans looked to for help. Gangsters, recognized for breaking the law, were known for their styles of the business suit. They took every piece of the attire into consideration. From the bold white strips, multi colored ties, and trouser bottoms, they wore the fashions for men. Another big effect on men's fashions in the thirties was the Wall Street Stock Market crash. Since men could not find good jobs, they had less money to spend on clothing. So in turn, most men wore old ragged shirts, worn pants and hats, and leather boots. All together, fashions of the nineteen thirties rose and fell with the changes in America's economy.
