Mello Yello was created by The Coke Company in 1979.  Mello Yello was created to be a competition against Mountain Dew. Mello Yello is sold in six different countries: American Samoa , Canada , Guam , Japan , Mariana Islands, and the United States . Diet Mello Yello was created ten years later in 1989.  A high caffeine soda called Surge was created by the Coca-Cola Company to replace Mello Yello, but was unsuccessful. Mello Yello is still produced today and many people all over the world are enjoying it.
